NEW DELHI: The central authorities on Tuesday introduced the extension of the insurance coverage plan for an approximated 22.12 lakh overall health employees, which includes local community and non-public health and fitness employees, executing COVID-19 obligations by another 180 days.

In this regard, the ministry said, a letter has been despatched to all the states and Union territories on Tuesday.
The scheme was released on March 30, 2020, “to deliver in depth private accident include of Rs 50 lakh to 22.12 lakh healthcare companies such as group well being employees and non-public health staff who may perhaps have been in immediate get in touch with and treatment of COVID-19 patients and may well be at hazard of becoming impacted by this.”
“Further, on account of the unprecedented predicament, personal healthcare facility workers/retired/ volunteer/local city bodies/contract/day by day wage/ad-hoc/outsourced staff members requisitioned by states/central hospitals/autonomous hospitals of central/states/UTs, AIIMS & institutes of nationwide value/hospitals of central ministries exclusively drafted for the treatment of COVID-19 people are also protected underneath the PMGKP,” the assertion additional.
